4 month anniversary

today was my 4 month anniversary of arriving in korea. these past 17 weeks have felt like an eternity, which is somewhat comforting after the way the days blurred into a smear of a year back in new haven. the utter relativity of time has been confirmed for me.

today i ran into my korean co-worker, julia, before work. as we stood on the curb waiting for the light to change, numerous scooters zipping past in the chill december air, i mentioned to her that i had now officially been in korea for 4 full months. she exclaimed "wow, it's gone by so fast!" and i could only laugh as this seemed the perfect punchline to the joke of life--the absurdity of how different each person's experience of 'reality' is.
