vegan twinkie is not an oxymoron, but healthy twinkie may be

last night on the travel channel i saw footage of the hostess twinkie factory and it caused a serious flare-up of my old twinkie passion (refer to this for ancient documentation). i have been so good these past months, cutting out sugar and most refined craptastic foodstuffs from my diet, and it has indeed served me well as i didn't get sick once this winter and feel overall quite physically super. but oh god, twinkie, what you do to me, how my salivary glands mutiny and flood my pious tongue with moist unbridled enzymatic love. oh yes!

of course i did not rush out and purchase a twin pack of twinkies from the convenience store a mere two blocks from my abode. nay. instead i ate more broccoli, drank more water, and called it a night. but, today i stumbled upon this recipe for vegan twinkies, and i intend to make them (perhaps minus the twinkie baking set, if possible, as buying this would be a serious commitment to regular twinkie consumption) as soon as my laziness is eclipsed by my sweet tooth. the recipe involves soy milk, for god's sake, what is not to love?
