to nyc by foot

someone on craig's list is organizing a group to walk to new york city from new haven. it will be spread out over two days, with a slumbering in the stamford area. what a fabulous thing this could be! likely i will be unable to participate due to working on saturdays, but one can dream of an undeserved vacation day or scheme about a fraudulant "sick" day.... i have always wanted to take an epic walk, make a monumental bipedal pilgrimage of the secular sort. as a kid/adolescent i fixated on walking the train tracks, imagined that i could follow them to the pacific coast. now, however, i would definitely settle for a walk into the city.
