chia pets

you know it is the holiday season when the chia pet tv ad onslaught begins. that jingle "cha cha cha chia!" gets stuck in my poor head every year. and for the record, they are a crummy gift. mine became a 'moldy pet' a few days after the chia seeds sprouted and then promptly died. ugh. you would be better off just smearing alfalfa sprouts over an old stuffed animal.
